JAZAN – Two people were killed and two others injured when a gunman fired at them during a failed attempt to rob a local bank in Jazan, Tuesday. The assailant surrendered to the security forces, according to spokesman of Jazan police. The incident occurred at a branch of Al-Rajhi Bank at around 11 a.m. The assailant, carrying a machine gun, broke into the bank and started firing at the bank staff and the customers, killing two and wounding two others. Immediately after receiving information, security forces surrounded the bank and ordered the gunman to lay down arms and surrender but he started firing at the security men. However, the security forces managed to pin him down. They also released the man held captive by the assailant. The gunman was handed over to the investigative agencies to complete the necessary procedures, the Saudi Press Agency quoted the police spokesman as saying.
