Saudi Gazette report MADINAH — A deaf and dumb pilgrim and his wheel-chaired bound wife had their years-long cherished dream of performing Haj fulfilled this year. The wife said her 55-year-old husband, Mohammad Awad, had always dreamt of seeing the Kaaba with his bare eyes, Makkah daily reported. “My husband is deaf and dumb and we communicate through sign language. He is very ecstatic about being in the Prophet's Mosque. We performed Haj and he did get to see the Kaaba with his bare eyes. We also saw the grave of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) and a few historic and Islamic sites,” said the wife. She added the two of them performed tawaf (circumambulation of the Holy Kaaba) on wheel chairs. “Our health is not at its best. We hope to be able to come back when my husband's health gets better. When we would perform Tawaf, he would ask me to hail the takbeer on his behalf. “His physical and mental disabilities never stopped him from wishing what seemed to be impossible at some point in our lives,” said the wife.
