SHANGHAI — Huawei recently hosted its fifth annual Huawei Cloud Congress (HCC2015) at the Shanghai Expo Center in China. Over 10,000 visitors and participants including IT experts and industry leaders from over 80 countries attended the two-day convention to discuss new solutions for cloud computing and big data.
This year's theme is building a cloud ecosystem. Huawei's rotating CEO, Eric Xu, stated: “We will focus on IT infrastructure, software platforms, and enterprise cloud services when creating a cloud ecosystem.”
He added that Huawei aims to create an open and dynamic cloud ecosystem along with their partners.
Over the years, Huawei has shown to be a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider on the global stage.
With over 170,000 employees worldwide, Huawei has served telecom operators, enterprises and consumers in more than 170 countries and regions.
Driven by innovation and open partnerships, Huawei offers its customers end-to-end ICT solutions in telecom and enterprise networks, devices and cloud computing.
At the HCC2015, Huawei has shown its leading stance in the IT industry in cloud digital transformation by offering the latest in cloud technologies in different industries.
Speaking at a press conference at HCC2015, Huawei managers and leaders along with their international partners shared Huawei's cloud strategy and the growing partnerships it has attracted.
William Xu, Huawei's chief strategy marketing officer, said, “We will definitely leverage the expertise of the strongest players in the industry, so that we can build the best solutions to our clients and customers,” referring to other partner companies such as SAP, Microsoft, and others.
On Huawei's marketing strategy and approach, he said, “Currently, whether we need to use cloud or not is no longer a question. The question is how we offer the cloud and how we use the cloud. We need to ensure our cloud solutions are open, efficient, and secured.”
He added, “Therefore we need to have extensive partnerships and collaborations with strong players in this market to jointly build good cloud solutions.”
In a global shift towards cloud computing, traditional industries are moving towards delivering cloud services through industry clouds. Moreover, as cloud-computing technology is maturing, enterprises are infusing cloud capabilities into their IT systems.
At the HCC2015, an exhibition hall displayed Huawei's latest technology in different sectors, including telecommunications, government affairs, education, energy, transportation, and security, and more. The large hall showcased live solution demonstrations and innovations from Huawei and its partners.
From smart technology in banking to a virtual classroom to storage service tools, the hands-on lab offered visitors a simulation to real-time IT business scenarios.
Huawei's cloud strategy overseas has been collaborations with local companies to build public cloud services. Its expertise in cloud data center infrastructure has been performed abroad. In the future, according to Huawei representatives, there will be multiple clouds with some offering regional services while other global services.
