Makkah tragedy: King orders SR1m for kin of each martyr (Sept 16)
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 19 - 09 - 2015

It wasn't anybody's fault, it was an accident but the King is so generous enough to compensate! Be thankful.
Claire Susulan Enriquez
Please, if this happened anywhere else they would have regarded it as an act of God and finished it there. As it was due to severe weather the King could have easily washed his hands of any responsibility. Credit where it's due
Faz Hussain
Good on you King Salman. You be blessed and may you attain only goodness in this life and the next.
Muzaffar Dohadwala
Unfortunately due to bad weather, that incident occurred in which there is no hand or intention of any human in tis tragedy. So there is no question of banning Binladin group as you all know that Binladin group made their best efforts towards development of KSA infrastructures from past few decades. Except taking strong measures that such incidents do not happen in future and praying for those deceased we can't do anything. Saudi Arabia and King Salman have made their best efforts to make Haj easy. And may Almighty Allah bless King Salman with more iman and strength to help the world Ummah.
Md. Salman
Oh come on. There is no risk assessment for their project and maybe the safety officer and other safety engineer never conduct risk assessment, and they never anticipated that it would be possible for the crane to collapse in bad weather. They should be responsible for that. So the company has to be sanctioned.
Weng Malintad
Saudi Binladin Group is not responsible for this act of God because that time the weather was very bad. So many question arises now but nobody thought about the condition under which SBG was working. Under what circumstances the construction was possible with civilian presence on the working site. Since last 3 year SBG has been handling this extension project and no minor or major accident happened.
Mohd Abdur Rahman
Binladin Group has always been very sincere in all the constructions that took place in Saudi from the early days of Saudi development and till date their construction works has always been very strong and lasting, mashaAllah. The new companies just make money, use worst material and take ages to finish their projects. We must not forget the efforts of Binladin company. This was an accident and no one should be blamed.
Omm AbdurRahman
Why are we debating. An investigation has been done. We don't know what was unsafe act or condition behind the natural disaster. Yes there was a strong wind but why out of 100 cranes only one falls. We need to know that there could be poor fixing or installation or even no safety locks were equipped. There could be no report to show risk assessment was done and correct control measures were put in place. We need to know that in every accident there is an error, which is caused either by mechanical error or human error. Accountabilities must be pinned by showing what went wrong.
Mubarak Salim
They increase the productivity during Haj and Ramadan to show to the pilgrims.... whole year they sleep and during crowded season they start increasing productivity. They dig here and there, close the road pathway and pilgrims face many difficulties to reach to the Holy Haram. The decision has been made as per report. So don't waste time by discussing these things.
Simran Nawaz
Binladin Group is being punished for its deeds. They don't have check & balance, their employees are not paid full duty timing. Sorry to say they have to change their system. Haramain projects being delayed by their negligence and poor management. Sir they have to work honestly to complete Haramain projects.
Alfarid Khan
There is a neglect of duties on the part of contractor especially the engineer and safety engineer in charge. Natural disaster is not reason or excuse. Many people have died because of the incident and you blame only the nature.
Abdol Malik Macaampang
Poor safety measures are responsible for the incident. But in Islamic point of view it is a disaster, but the committee knows better what is right and wrong and l agree with royal court decision and it is also a message for other companies to improve safety.
S Hannan Mushtaq
The first look at that crane almost one and half year ago during Umrah was horrible. It was largest mobile crane in the world. All I'm saying is that how come a mobile crane is not fixed at the working position. There is clear negligence on the part of project owner or designer.
Arslan Ahmad
There was no need to keep a lot of cranes at the roof which leads to accident, Where was their safety department ? How were they allowed to keep that much of cranes on roof? This is the question.
