Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Labor Ministry's ban on outdoor work in the sun from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. will be over by Tuesday. Abdullah Abu Thunaiyan, deputy minister of labor for inspection and development of work environment, thanked the private sector firms for cooperating with the ministry in implementing its three month-ban on work under sun from June 15 until Sept. 15, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
He said that inspectors from the ministry detected 2,499 violations of the work ban during the period. Penal measures are being taken against the violators. Firms violating this decision face a fine of SR3,000 to SR10,000 and closure for 30 days. The ministry had banned companies from letting their employees work outside in the sun during the period and there was exemption for those working for oil and gas companies as well as for maintenance emergency workers.
