Sladek remarked that apart from the focus on customer service, “we are also concentrating on raising our brand awareness. With that we hope to grow our market share in Middle East and Africa.” “We have achieved outstanding growth, to the tune of 70%, with respect to devices globally. And our H1 year-on-year result in the Middle East has been 48% and it too is spectacular,” he said. Sladek, while emphasizing that Huawei's core business is networks, said that it is using its strength to boost its devices. “We are also leaders in data center, cloud and networks and that has seen us partner with regional players to enhance connectivity and play a role in the building of the smart cities.” “Huawei has an important role to play, for with its core strength, and its ability to assist vendors in iOS and Android, it is better positioned than many to herald 5G.
