Saudi Gazette report JAZAN/ASIR – Rain and thunderstorms that lashed the coastal and mountain areas in Jazan region's governorates on Friday caused low visibility on the coastal roads, while also causing power outages in tens of villages of the region. The heavy rain contributed to improving weather on the highlands causing the citizens to go out of their homes to enjoy the pleasant rainy weather during the weekend, Al-Watan said. Heavy rains also battered the governorates of Faifa, Al-Dayer, Huroob, Al-Idabi, Al-Aridhah and Al-Reeth. There were floods in several valleys accompanied by lightning and fog causing poor visibility. On Faifa Mountains, there were land and rockslides while power outages hit different places like Qardhah, Al-Haqu, Al-Haijah and Al-Dhuha. The Saudi Electricity Company teams were kept in a state of emergency to repair the breakdowns. In Al-Aridha, the residents living to the west of Al-Dhahrani village and the neighboring villages spent Friday night without electricity. Rain on Huroob Mountains too cut off electricity and telephone lines in all the villages of the governorate for several hours. The Emergency Committee in Huroob governorate said it did not receive any report of road blockages or any citizen being stranded in the villages. The head of the second team for transport and roads in Huroob governorate, Ali Mousa Al-Dheebi, said the teams carried out a field survey of the roads to ensure that none of them have been cut off or blocked. In a related development, the Civil Defense search teams in Asir region and its unit in Marbah were able to find the body of a man who went missing in Itwid Valley 12 days ago. The body was found in the periphery of the dam lake. Meanwhile, search teams are still looking for another man who had accompanied him.
