SHAMLI - Heavy rains caused rock falls and mudslides on several mountainous roads in Jizan Region late on Saturday. No casualties were reported. The Civil Defense has appealed to citizens and expatriates to remain cautious in the coming days. The three-hour continuous rains disrupted traffic on Road No. 8 in Faifa and several other streets on Al-Dhai'ah mountains in Al-Sahaleel where rocks fell on a car. The motorist, however, had a miraculous escape. Cloudy weather with intermittent thundershowers prevailed in the southern governorates of the region. Qussay, Sabya, Faifa and Al-Dair valleys were flooded due to incessant rains. The Civil Defense has warned people to keep away from the valleys during rainfall and not to erect earth dykes to divert floodwater routes, as this poses great danger to the houses in the villages and cities. In another development, a storm led to power outage for over three hours in Al-Shamli in Hail Region. A source in the Electricity Company attributed this to a short circuit. The storm also caused the collapse of a wall onto a trailer truck in Asabtar village and the roof of a hangar in Badayea Bin Shitaiwi. Damage was restricted to property only. - Okaz With reporting by Saad Al-Anezi from Al-Shamli in Hail Region. __
