MAKKAH — A fire started in the basement of a public building under construction in Al-Awali District of Makkah on Sunday. Makkah Civil Defense spokesman Capt. Naif Al-Sharif said the four-story building covered an area of 4,000 sq. meters and the basement was 1,200 sq. meters. The Civil Defense was able to extinguish the fire before it spread to the rest of the building. There were no injuries recorded and the Civil Defense is estimating the cost of the damage.
