NEW YORK — Most of the talk has been about the new additions to the Toronto Blue Jays. On Sunday, it was a trio of players who have been here all season guiding the Blue Jays to their latest win. Right-hander Marco Estrada allowed three singles in 6 1/3 innings while third baseman Josh Donaldson and right fielder Jose Bautista hit long solo home runs as Toronto completed its first sweep at Yankee Stadium in over 12 years with a 2-0 victory over the New York Yankees in the American League. “Oh yeah, we got some good players out there,” Toronto manager John Gibbons said. “No doubt, there's a couple of big additions but there's some pretty good ones too.” Playing their biggest series in New York after the All-Star break since August 1993, the Blue Jays (61-52) ran their winning streak to eight games, won for the 11th time in 12 games and inched to within 1 1/2 games of the Yankees (61-49) with 10 games remaining in the season series. Indians 8, Twins 1: Corey Kluber flirted with a no-hitter and Cleveland's lineup had another big offensive day to roll over Minnesota 8-1. The Indians scored 34 runs in winning two of the three games of the series. Kluber (7-12) held the Twins hitless through six innings, facing the minimum 18 batters in that span. Red Sox 7, Tigers 2: Jackie Bradley Jr., who was hitting .121 when the game began, had a career-best five RBIs and five Boston pitchers cobbled together a four-hitter in a 7-2 win over Detroit. Bradley had a bases-loaded triple, a solo home run and a bases-loaded walk to account for his five runs driven in. Royals 5, White Sox 4: Omar Infante got the winning run home in the eighth inning with a soft ground ball as Kansas City beat the Chicago White Sox 5-4. Infante's grounder to first baseman Jose Abreu was enough to score Alex Rios, who led off the inning with a single and took third on Paulo Orlando's ground-rule double. Other results: Mariners 4, Rangers 2; Angels 5, Orioles 4 (11 innings); Athletics 5, Astros 4. National League Cubs 2, Giants 0: Right-hander Jake Arrieta tossed 7 2/3 innings of four-hit shutout ball as Chicago beat San Francisco 2-0 to complete a four-game series sweep. The sweep was the Cubs' first of the Giants at Wrigley Field since June 9-12, 1977. The Cubs claimed their fourth straight victory and moved 3 1/2 games ahead of the Giants in the race for a second National League wild-card playoff berth. Brewers 5, Cardinals 4: Khris Davis welcomed Jonathan Broxton back to Miller Park rather rudely, taking his former team mate deep for a decisive two-run homer in the eighth inning as Milwaukee edged St. Louis 5-4. It was Davis' second home run of the afternoon — his second multi-home run game in the last four days. Rockies 6, Nationals 4: DJ LeMahieu, who entered the game to play second base in the seventh inning on a double switch, had a two-run single with two outs in the eighth to break a tie as Colorado beat Washington 6-4. The game-winning hit came against Drew Storen (2-2), the former closer who also blew a three-run lead in the eighth inning on Friday. Phillies 5, Padres 3: Right-handed starter Jerome Williams held the San Diego Padres to one run on five hits over seven innings and Chase Utley broke open a two-run game with a two-run, pinch-hit double as the Philadelphia Phillies completed a three-game sweep at Petco Park with a 5-3 win. The Phillies are 16-5 since the All-Star break while the Padres have lost six straight for the second time this season to slip eight games below .500. Other results: Marlins 4, Braves 1; Pirates 13, Dodgers 6; Diamondbacks 4, Reds 3 (10 innings). Inter-League Rays 4, Mets 3: Richie Shaffer hit the go-ahead home run in the bottom of the seventh inning and scored three runs to lead Tampa Bay to a 4-3 win over the New York Mets that got the Rays back to .500 for the season. Rays starter Chris Archer settled down after a wild second inning and gave up three runs and four hits over six frames. He struck out 11 but walked four — all in the second inning. — Agencies
