Red Sox win 3rd straight

BOSTON — Veteran right-hander John Lackey pitched 6-1/3 shutout innings and a pair of Atlanta misplays led to runs as the Red Sox, who snapped a 10-game losing streak, beat the Braves for the third straight time this week with a 4-0 win Wednesday.
The Red Sox (23-29), who came from behind to win the two Inter-League games in Atlanta (28-24), scored single runs in the second and third innings to hang the loss on right-hander Gavin Floyd (0-2).
Rookie shortstop Xander Bogaerts had three hits and a walk for the Red Sox, who came in in a virtual tie for fourth and fifth places in the AL East.
Brewers 8, Orioles 3
Khris Davis' three-run home run in the eighth inning broke open a one-run game as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Baltimore.
Nelson Cruz hit two home runs, giving him 12 for the month and a major league-leading 18 for the season, but it wasn't enough to help Baltimore starter Bud Norris (3-5), who allowed four runs on five hits and three walks over six innings.
The Brewers improved to 32-22.
Yankees 7, Cardinals 4
Jacoby Ellsbury went 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs to lead New York's 12-hit attack as they beat St. Louis.

Luis Sardinas' RBI single in the top of the seventh inning scored Leonys Martin from second base, breaking a scoreless tie in a Rangers victory.
Joe Saunders, making his second start of the season after missing nearly two months with a fractured left ankle, pitched five shutout innings to keep the Rangers (27-26) in the game in the early going.

The Toronto Blue Jays scored in the bottom of the ninth inning on a bunt single and a throwing error to defeat the Tampa Bay Rays and extend their winning streak to nine games.

Designated hitter Chris Carter belted two home runs and drove in four runs as the Houston Astros clubbed the Kansas City Royals.

Moises Sierra drove in the winning run in the ninth inning and the Chicago White Sox beat the Cleveland Indians to sweep the three-game series.

Josh Donaldson crushed a three-run, walk-off homer off Tigers closer Joe Nathan, lifting the Oakland A's to a victory over Detroit.

Felix Hernandez gave up just one run off four hits in 8-2/3 innings of work to outduel C.J. Wilson and lift Seattle to a win.

Diamondbacks 12, Padres 6
Arizona center fielder A.J. Pollock had two hits and drove in two runs in an eight-run first inning and Martin Prado and Paul Goldschmidt hit two-run homers, leading the Diamondbacks past the San Diego Padres.
Giants 5, Cubs 0
Six pitchers combined to limit the Chicago Cubs to two hits, including none in the first 6-1/3 innings, and Hector Sanchez broke the game open with a two-run double in the seventh, lifting the San Francisco Giants to a win.
Marlins 8, Nationals 5 (10 innings)
Third baseman Casey McGehee's fourth hit of the game, a run-scoring single in the top of the 10th inning, broke a 4-4 tie, and the Miami Marlins went on to beat the Washington Nationals.
Phillies 6, Rockies 3
Ryan Howard hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to rally the Philadelphia Phillies to a victory over the Colorado Rockies.
Reds 3, Dodgers 2
Second baseman Brandon Phillips homered, and the Cincinnati Reds snapped a season-high four-game losing streak with a decision over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Mets 5, Pirates 0
