RIYADH — The Directorate General of Passports announced on Thursday that there would be no further extension to the grace period granted to Yemeni nationals living illegally in the country to rectify their residency status after the Aug. 15 deadline. "We have not received any instructions from the supreme authorities to extend the process," said Maj. Gen. Jamaan Al-Ghamdi, assistant director of general of passports. As many as 420,000 Yemenis have corrected their residency status since the grace period started, he said, adding that the Yemeni diplomatic missions in the country have issued more than 445,000 travel documents. He warned that these documents by themselves would not make their holders eligible for legal residency in the country.
