RIYADH — Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs Abdullatif Al-Asheikh has approved expropriation of properties to carry out new municipal projects in several regions of the Kingdom.
The ministry has also allocated a total of SR375.52 million to pay compensation to the owners of 151 properties to be requisitioned, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
According to SPA, the expropriation of 130 properties is already under way. Three properties, worth a total of almost SR30 million, are marked for expropriation in Makkah for a number of projects, including linking the Aziziyah District with the Jamarat Bridge.
Two properties worth SR2.8 million will be expropriated in Jeddah in order to construct a floodwater canal in Al-Kura Valley, Khaled Bin Al-Waleed Street and Abdullah Bin Khamees Street in Al-Rawda district.
Expropriation procedures have begun on 11 properties in Madinah, Yanbu and Badr governorates, with the amount of compensation reaching a total of SR325,000.
In Al-Zulfi and Al-Kharj governorates, which come under Riyadh municipality, 55 properties are being expropriated, with a total compensation amount of almost SR165 million.
Nine properties, worth almost SR19 million, will be expropriated in Taif to build roads, streets and bridges.
In Asir region, eight properties will be expropriated to carry out municipal works in Abha, Khamis Mushayt, Namas and Ahad Rufaidah.
A total of 148 properties worth over SR122 million will be expropriated in Al-Qassim region to carry out road works in Buraidah, Onaiza, Al-Mudhnib, and Riyadh Al-Khabra.
In Baha, 11 properties worth almost SR17 million will be expropriated to carry out road works and organize the central area of the city.
Seven properties will be expropriated in Jazan region for building streets and other municipal projects with compensations exceeding SR3 million. Five properties worth more than SR13 million will be expropriated in the Hail region for road projects, including a ring road.
In Tabuk, expropriation of eight properties worth around SR1 million has been approved to develop the seafront and carry out other municipal projects.
