ABU DHABI - Almost two years after shooting scenes of "Furious 7," singer and actor Tyrese Gibson is back in Abu Dhabi to launch his album Black Rose, and to promote the DVD release of "Furious 7." He was met by hundreds of screaming fans at the Virgin Megastore at Yas Mall on Thursday night, where he promoted his sixth and final solo hit album. In an interview with The National, the actor talked about how special the UAE was to him, especially in helping him get over the death of co-star Paul Walker, who died in 2013 before the film was completed. “The UAE fans and the UAE are very important and special to me,” he told The National.
“I was sad, miserable and depressed thinking about him (Paul Walker), but when I came here for my 35th birthday, I found my smile again,” he said. “All of my friends, rappers like Drake and Will Smith, and Vin Diesel, have seen how much fun and how much energy is out here in the UAE” Tyrese posted a photo on Instagram of him looking at an old photograph of HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. "After the pic was taken I noticed this glow" he wrote. "Inshallah I will help change certain "perceptions" of the Middle East - I wanna build a full movie studio here on the level of Universal Studios called #VoltronStudios and do a film slate for #VoltronPictures and implement a more aggressive tax rebate and incentive program so that ALL A-List actors and movie directors and producers will come to Abu Dhabi to shoot A-List movies Inshallah this will ALL HAPPEN!!!!!" - Agencies
