Saleh Fareed Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — About 2,000 spectators cheered boisterously as artists performed a spectacular acrobatic show on the opening day of the World Circus in the city on Saturday evening. The circus, with artists from Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, opened at the Land of Events in the northern part of Obhur on the second day of the Eid festivities. The circus also brings together renowned and emerging performers from the three countries. The opening show attracted a huge number of circus enthusiasts — both young and old — who cheered the acrobatics and enjoyed the performance of acrobats, clowns, tightrope walkers, contortionists and jugglers. The circus, which is being organized by 1&21 in collaboration with “Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) as part of Jeddah summer festival, features 20 internationally acclaimed artists and performers. Exceptional skills and agility help them perform such difficult and sensational acts. The circus includes an extensive array of performances, charming acrobatic dances and exciting shows that promise to etch in the memory of the visitors for a long, long time. Waleed Alfi, general manager of 1&21 company, had earlier said: “We look forward to entertain and challeng the imagination of our audiences in this region.” The 120-minute shows will be held daily. They commence at 7.30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets are available at the circus site in Obhur, in three categories, including first, second and VIP.
