JEDDAH – “Only secularism can save the Indian social mosaic. Secularism has been a real binding force of Indian society. Wise people cannot ignore this fact. Most of the Indian people believe in peaceful coexistence and they are striving hard to keep this principle alive,” said Mohammad Naeem Khan, a social activist while addressing Majlis-e-Ilm-o-Adab, Jeddah's Iftar and dinner party at Al-Ruwais District. Khan, who chaired the event, was in the Kingdom to perform Umrah. Khan is the member of All India Jamiat Al-Ulema and organizer of Minority Cell of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee. “Muslims in UP are in a better condition economically and educationally than before but they still lack leadership. In UP their population is around 50 million. They are kingmakers. In 2017 assembly elections we hope that their unity will decide their fate in our state,” said Khan. “The Indian expatriate community is a law-abiding force and has always been praised for its hard work and honesty,” said Khan. He advised the gathering to keep in touch with the social and political developments of its state and country. “Only education and hard work can change the condition of Indian Muslims that are second largest majority in India,” he added. Faisal Shaikh and Muhammad Amir addressed the meeting too. The speakers emphasized on the need of reviving Urdu language with other technical education. In the beginning of the program Syed Imbesat recited a few verses from the Holy Qur'an, while a Naat was recited by Syed Muhammad. The vote of thanks was proposed by Syed Faizan Ahmad.
