MADINAH — Paramedic teams at the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Madinah region received 6,281 reports during the first 10 days of the holy month of Ramadan. They provided medical and first aid services around the clock to worshipers and visitors who needed them in Madinah, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said. Khaled Musaed Al-Sahli, spokesman of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Madinah region, said the medic and seasonal volunteering teams that are scattered in the Central Area and along the main roads used by visitors responded to 2,961 reports. Of these, 2,154 were for illness cases including respiratory and heart diseases. Meanwhile, the paramedics rushed 616 cases to the hospitals in Madinah to receive the necessary treatment. Al-Sahli said statistics for the first 10 days of Ramadan indicated that 807 accidents took place. They included traffic accidents, household accidents and cases of falling. About 521 cases were treated while the teams of paramedics transported 286 cases to hospitals and medical centers. Al-Sahli said two helicopters belonging to the Saudi Air Ambulance participated in transporting over 17 cases during this period. He added that the volunteering teams in the Prophet's Mosque attended to 3,320 cases. Of these, 1,086 cases were treated by male volunteering teams while 2,234 cases were treated by women's teams . He added that the paramedic teams participating in providing medical and paramedical services include the teams belonging to the authority like the ground medic and rapid intervention teams, electric wheelchairs in the Prophet's Mosque, advanced care teams and air ambulance services. They also include ground volunteering teams and electric wheelchair teams for men and women.
