JEDDAH — The General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) reported 15,000 to 18,000 women had their accounts with the organization frozen because they were ineligible for social insurance. A source from the Ministry of Social Affairs said the total number of ineligible beneficiaries who had their accounts frozen has exceeded 107,000. He said: “The organization began correcting the status of all its ineligible clients who were dropped from its database and system last week. “The ministry dedicated 115 offices all over the Kingdom and it welcomes and responds to clients' emails in order to facilitate the correction process.” He added the organization is willing to re-register dropped clients once they correct their status and complete their paperwork with the ministry and the organization. “Many tried to correct their status and have deleted their records at the Ministry of Commerce to prove they do not own any business of their own. “Some even sold out their mortgage and real estate to be able to receive the ministry's social insurance.” He also said technology will cut benefits fraud due to its transparency and efficiency. “Many of the ineligible women were registered at GOSI as employees at companies to create fake Saudization so the company would upgrade from a red band in the Ministry of Labor's Nitaqat system (indicating it is far below its Saudization targets). “Some of the ineligible accounts belonged to women in high-pay and top level managerial positions.” He also said the ministry has electronically linked its database with GOSI and several other ministries and directorates to ensure a smooth flow of information and open line of communication between the different ministries and directorates.
