GENEVA — Saudi Arabia's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Faisal Trad said that the situation in Syria is the worst humanitarian tragedy in the century. “The failure of the international community in shouldering its responsibility as well as in intervening to save the afflicted people of Syria will be recorded on the black pages in the annals of history,” he said while addressing the UN Human Rights Council. Trad recalled that Saudi Arabia has donated more than $476 million to support the Syrian people in addition to SR1 billion provided by the Saudi National Campaign for Supporting Syrian People in Syria as direct food and humanitarian aid for the Syrians displaced within the country as well as for the Syrian refugees languishing in Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon.
