Addressing the opening session of the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Yemen here on Tuesday, Al-Jubeir asserted that Saudi Arabia is advocating peace and it will support all efforts to end the Yemeni crisis in line with the Gulf initiative and the UN Security Council Resolution 2216, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The minister emphasized that Saudi Arabia rejects any external intervention in the Yemeni affairs without a request made by its legitimate government. He said Houthis staged the coup with the support of the deposed president Ali Abdullah Saleh and at the instigation of a regional force which interferes in the affairs of the region to ignite the fire of sectarian sedition to impose its hegemony, he said. Yemen's President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi stressed that the Houthi militias and their allies within the country and abroad want to use Yemen (as a tool) to destabilize the region as well as to undermine international peace and security. “These militias are addicted to engage in violence, destruction and invading Yemeni territories… This aggression resulted in a big humanitarian catastrophe, and these gangs have gone to the extent of blocking the delivery of humanitarian aid.” Hadi thanked OIC, its leaders and people for their solidarity with the people of Yemen and support for its legitimacy, unity, security and stability. He stressed that the Riyadh conference came out with a historic document known as Riyadh Declaration, which became one of the basic and main references for any consultations and a clear and specific road map agreed upon by all. Hadi said his government will only discuss with rebels at this week's UN-sponsored peace talks a Security Council resolution ordering their withdrawal from seized territory. “Our delegation in Geneva will only discuss the terms of applying (Resolution) 2216,” he said. Addressing the session, Iyad Madani, secretary general of OIC, called for convening a conference to deal with the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
