JEDDAH — The Ministry of Justice said personal status cases and family disputes constitute 60 percent of all cases received by courts in the Kingdom. The ministry's reports revealed the number of custody and alimony cases in the last six months have reached 11,520. The report also revealed a total of 5,662 cases related to custody and 5,858 were alimony cases. In 2014, the total number of custody and alimony cases was 16,371. A total of 7,859 of the cases were custody cases and 8,512 were alimony. The reports showed 1,873 of the alimony cases during the past six months were in Makkah, 1,484 cases were in Riyadh, 840 were in the Eastern Province, 410 were in Jazan, 320 were in Madinah, 262 were in Asir, 208 were in Qassim, 119 were in Tabuk, 99 were in Hail, 89 were in Al-Jouf, 56 were in the Northern Borders, 55 were in Baha and 43 were in Najran. Last year, there were 2,926 alimony cases in Makkah, 1,959 in Riyadh, 1,204 in Eastern Province, 573 in Jazan, 487 in Madinah, 373 in Asir, 269 in Qassim, 182 Tabuk, 165 in Hail, 136 in Al-Jouf, 101 in the Northern Borders, 79 in Baha and 59 in Najran. The report also showed the statistics for custody cases for the past six months. There were 1,940 cases in Makkah, 1,376 in Riyadh, 708 in the Eastern Province, 476 in Madinah, 287 in Jazan, 206 in Asir, 179 in Qassim, 165 in Tabuk, 118 in Hail, 73 in Al-Jouf, 63 in Baha, 50 in the Northern Borders and 21 in Najran. In 2014, there were 1,940 custody cases in Makkah, 1,651 in Riyadh, 1,035 in Eastern Province, 580 in Madinah, 417 in Jazan, 279 in Asir, 254 in Qassim, 248 in Tabuk, 183 in Hail, 113 in Al-Jouf, 85 in Baha, 73 in the Northern Borders and 40 in Najran.
