The staff of the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice welcomes and supports a dialogue with media personnel, its General President Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Ghaith said here on Saturday. It has often been observed, he said, that some journalists armed with cameras pursue the Commission vehicles only with the sole objective of “finding a fault.” Al-Ghaith's comments came after the Commission signed a three-year memorandum of understanding with King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue aimed at “developing dialogue skills of Commission staff in dealing with suspects, media, and among themselves.” It also aims at “disseminating freedom of expression in accordance with regulations.” The MoU is automatically renewed and a joint team consisting of specialists from both sides is to be formed to implement the memorandum's articles, Al-Ghaith said. Dr. Faisal Bin Mo'ammar, the center's secretary general, said a family dialogue project will soon be launched. It aims at developing dialogue skills between parents and their children. He added 800 male and female trainers and 80,000 participants are ready to implement the goal of dissamenating the culture of national dialogue in society.
