Saudi Gazette report WASHINGTON – A number of US Congressmen have lauded the wise policies being pursued by the Saudi leadership to rein in the greed and to confront the threats posed by Iran to the stability of the region. They also underscored the need for extending full backing to Saudi Arabia in its efforts to restore legitimacy and stability in the neighboring country of Yemen. The Congressmen made the remarks during their meeting with a delegation of the Saudi-US Parliamentary Friendship Committee under the Shoura Council at the Congress headquarters here on Thursday, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The delegation, headed by Muhammad Al-Naqqadi, met with Senators John McCain, Ben Cardin and Ardrossan. They discussed ways of enhancing bilateral relations in various fields in a way serving the interests of the two countries and their people. While noting that Iran is not complying with the international law, the Congressmen alleged that Iran has special agenda to interfere in the affairs of the neighboring countries such as Bahrain, Yemen, Iraq and Syria in an illegal way. They supported the Kingdom's measures to protect its borders from the Houthi aggression. The Saudi delegation noted that lifting of sanctions against Iran would embolden Tehran to continue its blatant intervention in the internal affairs of the Gulf states and other countries in the region. The delegation is also scheduled to meet officials from the US State Department, the US-Saudi Business Council, the American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in addition to the Saudi scholarship students.
