RIYADH – A Saudi man donated one of his kidneys and part of his liver to save the life of his three-year-old daughter, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday. A medical team from Riyadh's King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children took 10 hours to surgically remove the organs from 34-year-old Abdul Aziz Al-Baidani and successfully transplant them in the girl's body, SPA said. Dr. Khaled Abdullah, head of the center for surgery and transplantation at the hospital, said the father left the facility in good health while the child is still under observation at its central care unit. She is expected to leave within a week. Dr. Abdullah congratulated Al-Baidani for saving the life of his daughter whose condition was serious following liver and kidney failure. Last week, two patients in Riyadh and Jeddah had benefitted from the liver and kidneys of a brain dead expatriate in Makkah. — SG/SPA
