DAMMAM — Petrochemicals giant Sipchem has started implementing six agreements for charitable work that were signed with various societies. A multi-specialization team from the company is working with these organizations to upgrade work efficiency and performance. In April, CEO Ahmed Al-Ohali signed agreements with Princess Jawaher Mashael Al-Khair Center; Wud Society for Social Services; the Women's Charity Association in Jubail Industrial City (Wahaj); Al-Bir Society in the Eastern Province; the Social Development Committee in Jubail (Tawasul); and Iradah Society. Secretary-General of Al-Bir Samir Abulaziz Al-Ofaissan said Sipchem's strategy and its experience in corporate social responsibility (CSR) would add value to the society's programs and services. Al-Ofaissan added the change would be “positive” because the society's goals to provide social training projects and employment in society and the objectives of Sipchem's CSR programs were compatible with each other. Al-Ofaissan said: “It is possible to get financial support from a number of sources, whether they are institutions or individuals. “It is an opportunity that is not available all the time, especially with the presence of highly experienced and efficient authorities in these fields. “This is what Sipchem is striving to achieve through its agreement with the societies.” He said many companies are adopting the approach taken by Sipchem in the field of corporate social responsibility. He said: “Undoubtedly, an experience like that of Sipchem will be an example to be followed. “Their experience should be benefited from in this field, especially among parties that are new to corporate social responsibility.” Al-Ofaissan said social service programs would improve in the future because the ongoing success of Sipchem's experience would encourage other parties to follow. He said experience and the quality of human resources are important elements for social service programs.
