RIYADH — Money collected by Jamia Markaz Alumni, Riyadh, for the victims of the devastating earthquakes in Nepal was handed over to the Relief and Charitable Foundation of India (RCFI). RCFI Riyadh coordinator Abdul Gafoor Velimanna received the first installment of the Nepal rehabilitation fund from former ISRO scientist and CEO of Markaz Knowledge City Dr. Abdul Salam Mohammed at a function held at Olaya Saffron Restaurant in the presence of a Markaz Knowledge City team visiting Riyadh. Muhammed Ali Mundodan presided over the function. The RCFI is the charity wing of Jamia Markaz, which operates all over India and beyond in extending humanitarian and emergency relief aid. The RCFI has launched rigorous rehabilitation activities in the worst affected areas of Nepal with the support of philanthropists worldwide. A number of mosques built and overseen by Jamia Markaz acted as the points of RCFI operations in Nepal. The mosques were not affected by the earthquakes. The foundation distributed emergency supplies, including food, water and medicines. It has also chalked out long-term rehabilitation plans. — SG
