JEDDAH — The Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) – Saudi Arabia's latest state of the art container terminal – has signed an agreement, as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative, with the Help Center – a non-profit organization committed to enhance the quality of life of individuals with intellectual disabilities – to further advance the cause of the latter. Help Center endeavors to alleviate the quality of live of the said individuals by empowering them to have the opportunity to learn, live, work, and play, in a safe environment.
The Help Center envisions a day when the gap between our world's developing services and programs can be bridged for the benefit of inclusion and better quality of life for persons with intellectual disability, and supports them in whatever manner is necessary for their full participation.
Help Center promotes and advocates the human rights disability act for people with intellectual disability.
The Center supports the people with intellectual disabilities and their families through medical, educational and social services.
Under the memorandum of agreement signed on May 20, RSGT – a world-class terminal spearheaded by the Saudi Industrial Services group SISCO, and the first privately funded build operate and transfer (BOT) port in Saudi Arabia – will utilize its resources and provide assistance to uplift the plight of individuals with intellectual disability through the Help Center's programs.
RSGT's vision is to be ‘an engine of growth for the economy and business' by providing world-class integrated logistics solutions, as well as port development and operations.
Covering over 750,000 square meters, the facility was constructed to set a benchmark advancing other port terminals around the region, exploiting approaches such as intelligent design and layout, cutting-edge technologies and value-added logistics capabilities; ensuring efficiency within whole supply chain, meeting the demands of modern day trade, it also adds 45% annually to the existing port's capacity allowing increase in volume and efficiency in handling.
RSGT is next to Tusdeer Saudis' first export and re-export zone ‘affiliation' which provides a thriving integrated logistics hub on the coasts of the Red Sea.
RSGT has been spearheading development at the port. In May 2010, 5 months after trial operations, JIP was ranked as ‘4 stars' in the same league as many of the world's leading ports in terms of efficiency of cargo handling, port fees, information services, problem-solving and application of global standards.
Overall the new terminal will open opportunities for customers around the world through the provision of cutting edge solutions to fulfill their business needs, furthermore seeking to provide shipping lines with high-quality services enabling great improvements in container handling productivity and turnaround times.
The biggest contributing factor to RSGT's success is its talents. RSGT has driven forward the nationalization of numerous jobs in the port by training and qualifying Saudi talents both male and females with the aim of maximizing the number of Saudis who are subject matter experts in the port industry.
