Saudi Gazette report RIYADH – The Ministry of Labor announced that more than 80 recruitment companies and offices have announced their readiness to recruit domestic workers from India, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Vietnam in line with the new regulations. Tayseer Al-Mofrej, spokesman of the ministry, said that over 100 recruitment firms have agreed to hire domestic help from Bangladesh and Niger in accordance with the new regulations on salary and recruitment fee. The ministry has fixed maximum salary and recruitment fee for domestic workers from Bangladesh and Niger effective from May 24. According to the regulations, the maximum salary for Bangladesh and Niger is SR800 and SR750 respectively. The recruitment fee for Bangladesh and Niger shall not exceed SR7,000. Al-Mofrej denied rumors that the recruitment firms have suspended or halted hiring domestic workers from Bangladesh and Niger in line with the new regulations. “These firms are giving priority to the applications that they had received earlier before receiving new applications for which the new regulations will be applicable.
