SIEMENS, the global technology powerhouse that has stood for engineering excellence, innovation, quality, reliability and internationality for more than 165 years, had showcased a series of new healthcare technologies for Saudi Arabia at the recently held “Saudi Health Exhibition 2015” in Riyadh. Siemens Healthcare unfurled new offerings across its entire imaging portfolio – from a digital mobile X-ray system with interchangeable detectors, to a new 1.5-tesla MRI scanner. Siemens' product portfolio supports healthcare providers around the globe to face the challenges of a transforming healthcare system while providing high diagnostic confidence and efficient workflows. Siemens Healthcare has expanded its portfolio of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems to include the 1.5-tesla scanner MAGNETOM Amira. This new MRI scanner is specifically designed to enhance clinical capabilities, deliver comprehensive and advanced technology. MAGNETOM Amira helps extend care to a greater number of patients, improve the patient experience, and boost process efficiency. On the Computed Tomography front, with the new version of the Somatom Definition Edge, Siemens Healthcare has created the basis for establishing the dual energy procedure in clinical routine. The innovative X-ray tube concept enables simultaneous imaging at two different energy levels for the first time in single source computed tomography. Thanks to a novel user- and patient-friendly measurement method, information on tissue and other material can be obtained as well as traditional morphological data, even during examinations with high contrast media dynamics. This means that more patients will benefit from the added value of dual energy imaging. Siemens also presents its revolutionary technology, the FlowMotion incorporated in the world's first PET/CT system to eliminate the demand for stop-and-go imaging: the Biograph mCT Flow. Now with Biograph mCT Flow and FlowMotion, planning and scanning is based on a single continuous motion of the patient table. Biograph mCT Flow paves the way for extraordinary progress in diagnosing and treating the most challenging diseases. The Biograph mCT Flow with FlowMotion technology is the end of stop and go. Siemens also showcased its latest innovations in ultrasound: The new version of Siemens' premium cardiovascular ultrasound imaging system Acuson SC2000 Prime edition now features live volume 3D transesophageal echo (TEE) imaging. The new release for cardiovascular imaging is the first to offer live full-volume color Doppler imaging of heart valve anatomy and blood-flow using the new true volume TEE probe. With this technology, physicians can obtain a more anatomically accurate view of the heart and dynamic blood flow in one view during interventional valve procedures, even in patients with ECG abnormalities. "Together with our Partner E.A. Juffali & Brothers we are putting our efforts and passion in the sustainable development of the Healthcare Sector in the Kingdom. By implementing training and educational programs in Saudi Arabia we are committed to contribute towards providing excellent healthcare services for all citizens," said Arja Talakar, CEO of Siemens Saudi Arabia. — SG
