JAZAN/NAJRAN — Two children, four women and a man were injured as shells fired from Yemen hit residential areas here on Saturday evening. Spokesman of the Directorate of Civil Defense in Jazan region Major Yahya Al-Qahtani said that at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, residential neighborhoods in border villages in Al-Tuwal Governorate were hit by shells fired from Yemen. The injured were admitted to hospital, he said. King Fahd Hospital Jeddah received three Yemenis injured in Houthi attacks in Yemen. They were referred from a hospital in Najran. Asir Emir Prince Faisal Bin Khaled visited the Asir Central Hospital to enquire about the health of those injured in Houthi shelling in Dhahran Al-Jonoub on Thursday. Meanwhile, Commander of Najran region's Border Guards Maj. Gen. Ali Al-Namsha refuted media claims by the Houthis that they have occupied the posts of a number of Border Guards surveillance units. “These are just hallucinations and dreams of the Houthis,” he added. The commander said the Al-Manar surveillance unit in Saqqam area, which the Houthis have been targeting for the past few days, is carrying out its security assignments right as usual. “The objectives of this unit have been turned from defensive to offensive despite the difficult terrain which gives the aggressor a more favorable strategic position,” he said. The commander assured residents that the conditions along the southern border were secure and said that there was nothing to worry about. “The Armed Forces, the National Guard and the Border Guards have taught the Houthis a harsh lesson after they dared to randomly shell some houses in southern towns,” he said. The commander said the evacuation of some border villages was a normal procedure after the end of the school academic year and the wish of parents to spend their summer vacation outside the region. “Villagers are leading normal lives. They are sure that there is no danger. They also have strong confidence that their Armed Forces, National Guard and Border Guards are in full control of the entire border,” he said.
