RIYADH — A Border Guard official was killed in mortar shell attack by Houthi rebels in Jazan on Wednesday, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Hassan Ali Abdu Somaili sustained injuries from mortar shells fired from across the border. He later succumbed to his injuries, according to the security spokesman at the Ministry of Interior. The attack occurred at around 7.40 a.m. while the officer was performing his duty at Markaz Abu Radaf in Harath sector of Jazan, the spokesman added. Meanwhile, oil tankers and truckloads of relief supplies, including foodstuff, dates, medicines, and medical equipment, meant for Yemen arrived at Al-Wadeea border point. More than 630 tons of relief supplies were dispatched by the Yemeni Embassy in Riyadh and the Muslim World League in coordination with the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Work. The relief supplies were dispatched to be distributed among the Yemeni people, with the assistance of the wing for evacuation and humanitarian operations at the Ministry of Defense, said Raafat Al-Sabagh, spokesman of the center.
