NEW YORK — Danny Espinosa and Bryce Harper clubbed three-run homers as the Washington Nationals routed the San Diego Padres 10-5 to record their third straight victory.

Harper went 3-for-3 and fell a double shy of the cycle while driving in four runs and scoring three. The home run was Harper's National League-leading 14th of the season.

The Nationals (22-17) remained a half-game back of the New York Mets in the NL East, while San Diego fell to 19-20.

Dodgers 1, Rockies 0: Yasmani Grandal hit an RBI single in the fourth inning as the Los Angeles Dodgers won a pitcher's duel against Colorado.

Dodgers right-hander Mike Bolsinger (2-0) allowed three hits over six innings while Rockies pitcher Kyle Kendrick (1-5) was the hard-luck loser, giving up one run in seven innings.

The Dodgers (24-13) split the four-game series with Colorado (13-21).
Pirates 3, Cubs 0: A.J. Burnett threw seven scoreless innings as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Chicago Cubs 3-0.

Phillies 6, Diamondbacks 0: Darin Ruf and Maikel Franco each homered and scored a pair of runs as Philadelphia stayed hot and completed a three-game sweep.

Giants 9, Reds 8: Hunter Pence and Brandon Belt homered as the hot-hitting San Francisco Giants defeated the Cincinnati Reds 9-8.

Rangers 5, Indians 1: Texas Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland hit a two-run home run and narrowly missed another homer as the Rangers beat Cleveland 5-1.

American League

Royals 6, Yankees 0: Edinson Volquez pitched seven scoreless innings and catcher Salvador Perez homered and drove in two runs as the Kansas City Royals defeated the New York Yankees.

With the win, Kansas City (24-14) moved a game in front of Detroit in the American League Central.

The Yankees (22-17) have dropped five of six.

Braves 6, Marlins 0: Right-hander Shelby Miller came within one out of a no-hitter as the Atlanta Braves defeated the Miami Marlins 6-0.

Rays 11, Twins 3: The Tampa Bay Rays pounded out 19 hits and scored five runs in the sixth inning to drill Minnesota 11-3.

Mets 5, Brewers 1: Rookie pitcher Noah Syndergaard earned his first Major League win by throwing six strong innings and Curtis Granderson hit a leadoff homer to give the New York Mets a 5-1 victory over Milwaukee.

Astros 4, Blue Jays 2: Collin McHugh struck out nine batters and allowed two runs over seven innings as Houston beat Toronto 4-2.

Orioles 3, Angels 0: Mike Wright pitched 7-1/3 scoreless innings in winning his Major League debut, Adam Jones doubled in two runs and the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Los Angeles Angels 3-0.

Mariners 5, Red Sox 0: Seattle Mariners starter James Paxton extended his scoreless innings streak to 20, leading the Mariners to a 5-0 shutout win over Boston.

White Sox 7, A's 3: Jeff Samardzija allowed three runs over eight innings, and the Chicago White Sox defeated the Oakland A's 7-3, sweeping the three-game series and winning their season-high fifth consecutive game.

Inter-League
Cardinals 2, Tigers 1: Lance Lynn tossed 7 1/3 innings and added an RBI single to lead St. Louis past the Detroit Tigers 2-1.
