Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — The Council of Ministers on Monday condemned the Houthi militia's aggression in the southern cities of Najran and Jazan, targeting residences, schools, farms and service facilities with mortar shells and Katyusha rockets.

The weekly session of the Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Yamamah Palace here, lauded the operation carried out by the Saudi Armed Forces with the participation of the coalition forces in repulsing the aggression.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Culture and Information Adel Al-Turaifi said the Cabinet thanked King Salman for his announcement about the establishment of a Riyadh-based center to coordinate all humanitarian and relief work for the Yemeni people.

The Cabinet underscored the significance of adhering to the humanitarian truce which will come into force on Tuesday to facilitate relief operations and accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people.

The Cabinet welcomed the convening of the Riyadh conference under the umbrella of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) with the participation of all Yemeni parties wishing to maintain the country's security and stability.

Al-Turaifi said the Cabinet also emphasized the importance of the statement issued by the 15th GCC Consultative Summit, which affirmed its support for the urgent measures taken by the Yemeni government to address the difficult and dangerous humanitarian situation caused by the irresponsible acts of Houthi militias and the militias of ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh. It also called on the international community to accelerate the provision of humanitarian aid to Yemen.

The Cabinet highlighted the speech of the King at the Islamic Fiqh Academy conference in Makkah in which he asserted that the Kingdom's purpose in launching the Decisive Storm operation was to foil the attempts being made to turn Yemen into a base for a plot to destabilize the region.

Al-Turaifi said the Cabinet approved the creation of the Princess Noura Bint Abdurahman Prize for excellence for women. The prize, carrying the Princess Noura Shield, certificate of appreciation and prize money of SR100,000 will be given in eight categories. In the branch of theoretical studies prizes will be given for literature, humanities, natural sciences and health science. Prizes in the branch of practical work will be given in the categories of social work, economic projects, charity work and artistic work.

The Cabinet also approved the regulations for the Saudi center for accreditation of health institutions. The center is aimed at improving the quality of health services to guarantee the safety of patients and develop the efficiency of the health profession and the administrative competence of health institutions.
