I am writing with regard to the article “IISJ announces 20% hike in tuition fees” (May 6). This increase in school fees will be a burden to low-income families who have three or four children going to school. It think that there are not very many parents whose children go to IISJ who have good salaries. The school authorities should rethink the increase in fees and consider using other funds, such as building funds, admission fees, etc. to increase staff salaries. Mohammed Siraj, Online response This increase in tuition fees and in the salary of school staff is the need of the moment. It may be true that it hurts some parents, but I think that it is terribly humiliating that the IISJ teaching community is being paid such low salaries. They are working for the future our children. They should get the full benefit of this fee hike. Saidu, Online response A 15-20 percent increase in salary and 20 percent in fees! Do you know that even multinational companies in Saudi Arabia never increase salaries more than 10 percent and that too only for excellent and outstanding employees? Normally, salary increases start at four percent and reach a maximum of 10 percent. IISJ is making a huge mistake at the expenses of poor parents and the school authorities will have to answer for this injustice. Why don't they publish the annual IISJ audit report and tell us where the surplus millions are? Sam, Online response
