With regard to the article "Many private schools hike fees, violate MOE rules" (June 22), it is clear that some international schools intend to increase their fees even though this is in violation of the regulations of the Ministry of Education. The fees will increase and the quality of teachers will decrease, which will save money for the schools. Many parents will have no option but to send their children home since not all parents can afford to pay higher school fees. If they raise objections at the school, they will be told to pay the fees or take their children away. And what will the schools do with the money generated from the increased fees? It is doubtful that they will increase the salaries of the teachers or use the money to recruit highly qualified staff so that the children will receive a better education.
