RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has directed Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior, to take the necessary steps to correct the residence status of Yemeni expatriates who established illegal residence in the Kingdom before April 9, 2015 (20/06/1436H), a Royal Court statement said on Saturday. These Yemeni expats will be granted a six-month visit visa which can be extended upon receiving travel documents from their country's legitimate government, said the statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency. “They should be allowed to work in accordance with regulations set by the competent authorities. This procedure shall be effective for two months from the date of residence status correction,” it said. This measure has been taken in view of the current situation in Yemen and in response to a request by the legitimate government of Yemen represented by President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi and in extension of the efforts of the Kingdom to alleviate the suffering of Yemenis, the statement added. Chairman of the Supreme Council for Yemeni Communities Worldwide and Chairman of the Yemeni Community in Jeddah Mahdi Hatim Al-Nahari thanked King Salman for his directive to rectify the status of Yemeni residents staying illegally in the Kingdom.
