LOS ANGELES — USA Cycling has chosen a Harvard-educated businessman who once made the US Olympic team to help usher the sport's national governing body through a critical and transformative time. Derek Bouchard-Hall will replace Steve Johnson when USA Cycling's chief executive officially retires in June, the organization said Thursday. Johnson is stepping away from his highly visible role after nine years to pursue other interests. The US is hosting the world road race championships in September in Richmond, Virginia, the first time it will take place on American soil since 1986. After that, the build-up begins for the Rio Olympics, where the US will try to build on a modest showing at the 2012 London Games. — Reuters
