RIYADH — Municipal Council elections in the Kingdom will be held in September with women participating for the first time as both candidates and voters, Al-Madina newspaper reported. Abdul Rahman Al-Dahmash, deputy chairman of the General Elections Committee, said that women make up over 20 percent of the committees established across the Kingdom to prepare for the elections. He added that the minimum age of voters has also been decreased from 21 to 18 to allow more voters to participate. This will be the third Municipal Council elections in Saudi Arabia.
