New consortium to build communication satellites

RIYADH – Dr. Turki Bin Saud, president of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), announced on Monday the formation of an industrial and technical consortium to manufacture and launch communication satellites, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The consortium consists of KACST, Arab Satellite Communications Organization (ARABSAT), US space giant Lockheed Martin and Saudi Space Technology Company.
He made the remarks while opening the 3rd Saudi International Electronics, Communications and Photonics Conference at KACST headquarters.
The two-day event is being held under the aegis of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, SPA said. — SG/SPA
