Published in The Saudi Gazette on 26 - 04 - 2015

SAN FRANCISCO — Canadian teenager Brooke Henderson shot a tournament-record seven-under 65 to grab a two-shot lead after the second round of the LPGA Tour's Swinging Skirts tournament Friday.
The 17-year-old Henderson finished 36 holes at nine-under 135 at the Lake Merced Golf Course.
“It's pretty cool,” Henderson said about setting the record. “This golf course is tough, and the conditions are even tougher.
Henderson broke Stacy Lewis' (2014) record of 138 by three shots. Henderson is looking for her first victory on the US LPGA Tour.
First round leader and defending champ Ko celebrated her 18th birthday Friday with a even-par 72 to finish tied for fifth.
Choi Na-yeon used a four-under 68 to seize sole possession of second place. Choi finished two rounds at seven-under 137. Japan's Sakura Yokomine (67) and China's Feng Yueer (68) are one shot further back and tied for third at six-under.
World No. 1 Ko is tied for fifth with Kwak Min-Seo (67), Julieta Granada (69) and Jang Ha-Na(71).
Swafford ahead
In New Orleans, Hudson Swafford shot a six-under 66 in the second round Friday to move into a tie for the lead as the Zurich Classic was suspended for the second straight day.
Swafford ended 36 holes at an 11-under-par 133 at the TPC Louisiana. He was joined in the lead by first-round co-leader Boo Weekley, who was three-under par through 15 holes of round two in the PGA Tour event.
Brendon de Jonge (70) and Cameron Tringale (65) are tied at 10-under. De Jonge shared the first-round lead with Weekley.
Jerry Kelly (17 holes), Daniel Berger (15) and Jason Day (14) also shared third place.
Swafford converted his sixth birdie of the day at the 16th. He closed his round with a pair of pars.
Chad Campbell posted a four-under 68 to move into a tie for eighth place at nine-under-par 135.
Levy in four-way tie
Defending champion Alexander Levy failed to capitalize on a super start to his third round and was forced to settle for a four-way share of the lead at the European Tour's China Open in Shanghai Saturday.
The Frenchman burst out of the blocks, recording four consecutive birdies to start his round. However, a bogey-five followed at the fifth, before two more came on the par-fours 14 and 15 and he failed to take advantage of the generous par-five last to signed for a one-under-par 71 and eight-under total.
That total was also achieved earlier in the day by Englishman David Howell and local hopes Wu Ashun and Li Hao-tong. Howell registered five birdies in seven holes from the par-four seventh in his round of 68, while Li and Wu both signed for solid 69s as the local duo seek to become the first Chinese winners on the European Tour.
Westwood takes charge
Briton Lee Westwood produced a sparkling back nine of just 29 shots to wrest control of the Asian Tour's Indonesian Masters in Jakarta Saturday.
He will take a five-shot lead into Sunday's final round after his seven-under-par 65.
Yang Yong-eun was in a tie for second after birding the last in his round of 69 to sit alongside Dane Thomas Bjorn and Thailand's Namchok Tantipokhakul, who both shot 71.
Overnight leader Unho Park fell down the field following a disappointing 76, while Thailand's Chapchai Nirat also struggled Saturday and signed for a 73 and a share of sixth at one-under. — Agencies
