I am writing with regard to the article "It is time for Saudi Arabia to introduce compulsory military service" (Apr. 18). The current generation of Saudi youth have mothers who belong to the generation of the Saudi oil boom. The majority of those women became involved in the search for material things, a comfortable life with maids and drivers and new malls, and they had to fight for attention and material gain from their husbands. As a result, they have demonstrated the wrong manners and practiced a lack of responsibility in front of their children who are now the youth of the country in their 20s and 30s. Avid1111, Online response Saudi Arabia has proved that it is the protector of the Muslim Ummah. It does not need the Pakistani army. The Muslim world should do everything it can to protect Saudi Arabia. Young Saudis should join the military, so that they can defend the land of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him).
