Layan Damanhouri Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – The secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is consulting with several civil society organizations working with the umbrella body as well as other groups to provide medical, food and humanitarian aid for the Yemeni people. Iyad Madani, OIC secretary general, is also talking to United Nations agencies and the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in a bid to convince them to take urgent steps to alleviate the plight of the Yemeni people and to consider steps to be taken in the medium term. Madani urged member states and civil society organizations to provide humanitarian aid, including medical and food supplies, to those affected by the violence. He commended the assistance that has already been provided by several government and charitable organizations.
