RIYADH — A major portion of the goals of the ‘Operation Decisive Storm' has been achieved, according to Brig. Gen. Ahmad Al-Asiri, spokesperson of the coalition forces and adviser at the office of the minister of defense. Addressing a press briefing here on Monday, Asiri declined to comment on rumors being circulated by the media about the death of Houthi leader Abdul Malik Al-Houthi. He also denied rumors about occupation of 30 Saudi villages by the enemy. “There was no real battle with the Houthis on the Kingdom's southern border but only sporadic skirmishes,” he said. “Over the past days, there had been continuous movements on the part of the Houthi militia to transport supplies toward Aden. Therefore, the coalition forces targeted their supply lines. This forced them to opt for rugged terrain and valleys,” he said, adding that airstrikes targeted warehouses, tunnels and centers used by the Houthis in Aden. Asiri said the airstrikes continued targeting weapons depots and major areas in Saada, Amran and Sana'a. “The coalition forces have specific information that the Houthis are using schools, hotels, residential buildings, and playgrounds to store their arms and ammunition. So the forces targeted one playground each in Aden and Ibb that were used for storing arms. The forces are also targeting caves in Sanaa and Saada.”
