Mishal Al-Otaibi Saudi Gazette RIYADH — The coalition forces carried out 1,200 sorties until Saturday afternoon since the operation against the Houthis began 17 days ago, Brig. Gen. Ahmad Al-Asiri, spokesperson of the coalition forces and adviser at the office of the minister of defense, said here on Saturday. Eighty sorties are being carried out every day targeting the Houthi bases, he said, adding that the central security headquarters in Sanaa was hit after the Houthis converted it into their headquarters. Military brigades of the Houthis were targeted in Shabwa, Sanaa, Dhalea, Saada and Amran, Asiri said. He said the objective of the air campaign is to destroy enemy's air defense and missile sites. The coalition forces are targeting Houthi movements on the ground and disrupting their logistics and supply network, he said. Asiri said there was an exchange of gunfire for several hours in the border region of Najran. He said it is high time for tribal sheikhs to join legitimacy and stop supporting Houthis and the militias of the ousted president.
