Mishal Al-Otaibi Saudi Gazette RIYADH — The Saudi-led allied forces would welcome all relief work being carried out by countries or humanitarian organizations in Yemen, according to Brig. Gen. Ahmad Al-Asiri, adviser at the office of the minister of defense. “We demand these organizations to follow a system for carrying out relief work through diplomatic channels in the wake of the ongoing military operations,” he told the daily press briefing at the Riyadh Airbase on Tuesday. Al-Asiri said the Najran airport resumed its operations and flights were operating as per schedule. He attributed suspension of the airport operations to random firing incidents targeting the airport from the surrounding areas. Al-Asiri said that the allied forces have carried out intensive operations in Aden and its surrounding areas over the past 24 hours. “There was presence of Houthi militias in the city when President of Yemen Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi was present there. But this is not the situation now as the allied air forces continue pounding the positions of the militia,” he said, adding that the north of Aden is now by and large calm and quiet. “The forces are targeting the movements and mobilizations, and disrupting supply lines of Houthis. Some Houthi-controlled camps, including the northern Kataf Camp, have been targeted in the airstrikes,” he said, adding that the militias are being confronted in Aden by members of popular committees from within the city and by the allied forces from outside. “The allied air forces attack the targets whenever they receive tip off from the committees about any Houthi presence in the city,” he said. Al-Asiri said intensive air campaign is also going on in northern Saada, which is regarded as a province with big presence of Houthis. “The airstrikes forced the militia to enter the cities of Dalie and Shabwa and mingle with civilians so as to protect themselves,” he said. “The forces are targeting the movements and mobilizations, and disrupting supply lines of Houthis.
