RIYADH – The project for development of Diriyah historical city is one of the models for national heritage that the state is giving a lot of attention. Also, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) is striving to include it in the list of international heritage belonging to UNESCO. SCTA with Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA) are exerting efforts in developing its districts. They are taking into consideration of using the basic elements in building that was used during the first Saudi state, SPA said. The idea for the project for development of Diriyah Historical City came up during the Kingdom's centenary celebration of its unification. This was when Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman (the then Emir of Riyadh region and Chairman of the Supreme Committee) issued directives to form a committee to study the development of Diriyah. Prince Sultan Bin Salman, President of SCTA, tabled the proposal. — SPA
