With regard to the article "Book fair in the Eastern Province" (Mar 31), a book by the bedside is comforting. A small book rack in the house makes it a home. In early days, mothers used to tell bedtime stories to children at night. Some read books to them. These traditions are now fading away in the humbug of the digital age, which includes video games that are making zombies out of our children and youth. Book fairs need not always be large. It is for parents to take their children to bookshops and buy them at least one book a month in order to revive the book culture. Muhammad Sarmad Alamgir Dar., Online response
