A minibus speeds over a sand barricade Saturday erected to keep pilgrim smugglers from entering Makkah. Nearly 5,000 illegal pilgrims without Haj permits were seen at Qarn Al-Manazil on Sail-Taif road journeying to Makkah on foot or by car Saturday, one day before the standing on Arafat. Security has been tightened on pilgrim smugglers this year. Some hitchhiked looking for illegal rides into the holy sites.
