JEDDAH — The global airline alliance SkyTeam has elected Saudi Arabian Airlines Captain Aidh Al-Mutairi as head of its operational safety department. Al-Mutairi expressed joy at receiving the honor and promised to do his best in his two-year tenure. He said: “Saudia has been seen as one of the most efficient and committed airlines in the alliance.” He said the election took place in Tokyo recently with the attendance of all 20 members of SkyTeam at the International Air Transport Association Conference. “SkyTeam's operational safety team is responsible for the air and land safety of all of its member airlines,” he said. Safety measures adopted by Saudia, he said, follows are considered a model for other international airlines associations. — SG
