RIYADH — The Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI) received 1,585 complaints from clients, health insurance companies and health services providers. The council's general secretariat Mohammad Al-Hussain said 96.28 percent of the complaints received a response from the council and were solved, 0.19 percent were unprocessed due to incomplete paperwork and 3.53 percent were irrelevant to the council and were forwarded to the pertinent authorities. “The number of complaints this year marked a 56 percent from last year. The increase shows the health insurance market has grown. Today, there are 28 insurance companies, 9.6 million clients and over 2,521 health service providers. Society has become more aware of the importance of health insurance and the role of the council,” said Al-Hussain. Most of the complaints centered on the inability to get all of the health insurance services listed in the council's charter, employers not providing health insurance for their employees and their families and monetary compensation complaints. — Okaz/Saudi Gazette
